My grandma, Celia Quint, was born on January 5, 1913. As what would have been her hundredth birthday approached, I wanted to find out what other cool stuff happened that year. Every time I saw 1913 anywhere, my brain always seemed to subconsciously knit my grandma into the context  of whatever the event was. As 2013 approached, I decided it was time to look into those in a little more depth, and encourage others to do the same.

We kicked off the exhibition with a launch event (facebook link), and I suspect I’ll do a group page,  so people can keep following the project. The launch was really well attended, the exhibition was extended to a further two weekends, and became a pop up gallery at an International Women’s Day event for the WI in March.  There’ve been some nice press mentions, I’ve done a few guest blog posts, and others have begun to contribute to the blog. It means a lot that so many people are interested in the project!

Stay tuned here over the course of this year for updates and 1913-related links, follow @1913Exhibition on Twitter for more frequent updates, and get in touch at chellaquint[AT]gmail[DOT]com if you’d like more info.

Thanks for checking out 1913 with me.
